Amphicorina Claparède, 1864
Oriopsis Caullery and Mesnil, 1896
Amphicorina? sp. 1 (specimen damaged)
Voucher. LOLIGO: station L3FA
Diagnosis. Voucher is the only example collected; very small and slender species; voucher specimen complete, with branchial crown; body 1.5mm long, crown 0.75mm long, body 0.15mm wide; with 8 thoracic and 4 abdominal segments. Chaetigers 1-2 short (wider than long), chaetiger 3 longer, chaetigers 4-8 much longer than wide; 4 abdominal segments short, crowded.
Branchial crown with (probably) 3 pairs of radioles and 1 pair of non-vascularized ventral filaments. Distal end of radioles filamentous, without papillae. Collar most developed ventrally as a high lobe, laterally and dorsally as a low lobe; margin smooth with mid-ventral shallow notch; dorsally not forming pockets, not overlapping at midline. Peristomial eyes not observed. Glandular ridge on chaetiger 2 present.
In thorax mucronate chaetae absent, only limbate (hooded) notochaetae found, around 4 per fascicle; thoracic uncini acicular, few, reduced from 3 per fascicle to 1 in the last thoracic chaetiger. Abdominal uncini not clearly seen, assumed rasp-shaped.
Pygidium triangular lobe, pygidial eyes not observed.
Remarks. With only 4 abdominal segments, FI specimens cannot be ascribed to any known species from the region as all of these possess at least 5 or more abdominal segments and its assignment to genus Amphicorina is uncertain. Given its very small size, it could also represent a sabellid juvenile.
